Choose You: MK's new weight loss and quit smoking service

Want to quit smoking, lose weight, or build healthier habits to feel better in yourself? Choose You offers free support to help you reach your goals. It offers flexible options like support programmes, group sessions, one-to-one guidance, and self-help tools, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
Choose You replaces MoreLife, which was a weight-loss service for residents in Milton Keynes.
About Choose You
The service offers an integrated approach to support residents in Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes to make long term improvements to their health and wellbeing.
Choose You provides a compassionate, practical and experienced service to help individuals build healthy habits that fit into their lives. If other areas of life are affecting their progress to quit smoking or lose weight, such as stress or mental wellbeing, Choose You can also signpost you to the right support.
Stopping smoking
You are three times more likely to quit if you are using a combination of stop smoking medication with specialist help and support.
Choose You helps people overcome the challenges of quitting smoking, supporting them to build positive habits and find nicotine replacement therapy options that suit
their needs. The free support includes:
- in person and group support with a stop smoking specialist
- one-to-one phone calls
- behavioural support to tackle triggers
- group seminars led by Allen Carr’s Easyway Programme (a one-day seminar)
Healthy weight
The free healthy weight programmes have been designed to help people:
- make gradual, sustainable changes
- eat a healthy balanced diet
- develop new habits that will help you stick to your goals
- experience improved wellbeing
Three programmes are currently available. The following links provide further information on the programmes, eligibility criteria and you can self-refer.
How to refer:
- You don't need a GP appointment to get started. You can self-refer on the Choose You website: www.chooseyou.co.uk and clicking on the ‘Get Started’ button.
- Health professionals can make a referral on behalf of a resident on the website as above (this will take the resident through some eligibility questions so these should be answered on behalf of the resident).
