About the role

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Outreach and Engagement Officer on a fixed term basis from July 2022 to the end of March 2023.

The key to our success is a population that is empowered and enabled to have their voices heard, using evidence gathered from people to influence how health and care services are designed and delivered. We want to create a long-lasting positive impact on people’s experiences when they access local health and care services.

The Outreach and Engagement Officer will be responsible for developing and delivering face-to-face and online engagement events and activities. The aim of these activities is two-fold: ensuring that Healthwatch Milton Keynes is a visible organisation in our local community proactively reaching out and gathering people’s experiences of care and, focusing our work on supporting people from minority communities and people suffering disproportionate health inequalities speak out about what they need from health and care services. You will gather an evidence base of experiences and work with Healthwatch Milton Keynes colleagues to present that evidence to those that pay for and provide services.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a dynamic person to join our team. You will be passionate about engagement and have the skills, confidence and experience of reaching out to people of all backgrounds, particularly under-represented groups such as people within minority communities and those that face barriers to have their voices heard. You will have demonstrable experience of build trusting, collaborative relationships with the public and professionals.

Working pattern

  • We are happy to consider a single role, or two part-time roles on a job share arrangement.
  • We will also consider flexible working and we encourage you to call us prior to application to discuss the role.

Other information

Ideally, applicants will have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and will be expected to undergo regular testing prior to engagement activities. Covid-19 testing kits will be provided by the organisation.

Healthwatch Milton Keynes is committed to equalities and strongly values diversity and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
