How should the NHS in MK engage with patients and the public?

NHS England is consulting on draft guidance for how it engages with the public, patients and communities.

NHS England is currently creating guidance for healthcare professionals to refer to when they're planning their public involvement activities. Public involvement is a legal duty for the NHS, and they want to hear your feedback on how it should be done to achieve maximise impact.

Patient involvement should always be more than a tick box exercise. The draft guidance sets out the benefits of a partnership approach to care, including better health outcomes, improved quality of care, better value for money and reducing health inequalities.

This NHS guidance will support the new Integrated Care Boards, NHS trusts and NHS foundation trusts to build effective, positive, purposeful and enduring partnerships with communities to improve services and outcomes for people.

Please take a look and respond if you're able. This guidance will directly affect your care in Milton Keynes. It will set the framework for how Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care System will involve you in their work and plans.

The consultation will run until Monday 30 May.
