Time:

10:10 – 10:30 am

Service:

Age UK Milton Keynes is an independent local charity.  We have been working to improve later life in the borough of Milton Keynes for over 40 years.

Topic:

We will be talking about our work with and for older people to make a real and positive difference that contributes to their wellbeing and quality of life. 

 

Carers MK

Time:

10:30 – 10:50 am

Service:

Carers MK Dedicated to supporting carers.

Carers MK supports unpaid carers and young carers in Milton Keynes aged 8 – 98+.  

Topic:

We will discuss the support we provide including advice, information, emotional support, workshops, volunteer engagement and training.

 

Diabetes UK 

Time:  

11:00-11:20 am

Service:

We are a local Diabetes UK group whose aim is to provide help and support to people living with or affected by diabetes in Milton Keynes.

Topic:  

We will discuss our monthly group meetings which provide a safe, friendly environment where you can:

  • meet other people living with diabetes who understand the issues you may be facing
  • exchange ideas and information to support and motivate diabetes self-management
  • have access to a wide selection of practical, up-to-date information about diabetes and related health issues
  • get involved in campaigning and improving services at both a local and a national level.

 

Maternity MK

Time:

11:20 – 11:40 am

Service:

We are parents and health professionals working together to ensure that our maternity services truly meet the needs of those who use them.

Topic:

 As a group we work to make sure our local maternity services listen to and take account of the views and experiences of everyone using them. Come and find out more about how you can use your experiences to make maternity care better in Milton Keynes.

 

BLMK Local Maternity System

Time:

11:40 – 12:00 pm

Service:

The work of the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes local maternity system (LMS) is overseen by the Maternity Transformation Board, which includes doctors, midwives, Maternity Voices Partnership, Neonatal Network, Health Visitors, commissioners, public health workers and other people who drive improvements in the care of mothers and babies across Bedfordshire Milton Keynes and Luton.

Topic:

We will be representing our Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Local Maternity and Neonatal system. We will share the information about who we are and what we do.

We will also promote the Covid 19 vaccination in pregnancy. We will have vaccinators at the event if you would like to get vaccinated on the day!

 

Diabetic Eye Screening

The impact Diabetes can have on eyesight and the importance of the Eye Screening Service in MK

AVMK Sexual Assault & Abuse Support Service

Time:

12:20 – 12:40 pm

Service:

AVMKSAASS are a charitable organisation who provides a range of services including therapeutic input to both victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. 

Our primary aim is to provide support, information, advice and guidance to victims and survivors, empowering and enabling them to work with the trauma and suffering caused to them and their loved ones by sexual assault and abuse, including non-recent and childhood sexual abuse.

Topic:

All our services are free to access and are provided by staff and volunteers that have received robust, specialist training to support individuals who have experienced sexual assault and abuse.

We believe nobody should have to cope with rape, sexual assault, or abuse alone and we are here to help. We provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental service regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, or socio-economic background.

 

Sofea

Time:

12:40 – 1:00 pm

Service:

Sofea is focused on people, and we have lots of tools in the box, we enable people to fulfill their potential through work; wellbeing; study; and purpose projects.

Topic:  

The presentation will be telling the SOFEA story:

  • What does our Wellbeing team provide to our young people.
  • What does the Education team teach and how do they engage.
  • What role does our Warehouse team play in upskilling our young people with employability skills.
  • How does the Community Larders contribute to SOFEA.

  • ways in which you are able to volunteer.

 

MK Mental Health Services

Time:

1:00- 2:00 pm

Service:

MK Perinatal Mental Health, Talking Therapies (IAPT), Specialist Memory Services, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are four of the many services provided by MK Mental Health Services.

Topic: 

 We will share information about who we are, what we offer, how to access the services and many more. We may also share some examples of patient journeys and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

 

Terrance Higgins Trust

Time:  

2:00- 2:45pm

Service:

Here in Milton Keynes, Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) are partnered with Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) NHS Trust, to form iCaSH (integrated Contraception and Sexual Health). We provide ALL age sexual health services for those living and working in the city.

Topic: 

Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) will be offering information on the sexual health service we provide; alongside details regarding Contraception and HIV.

 

MK- Act

Time:

2:50- 3:10 pm

Service:

MK-Act offers a range of services helping to support people in Milton Keynes who are experiencing domestic abuse in its many forms - emotional, physical, sexual, or economic.

Topic: 

MK-Act will talk you through how to access our Crisis Intervention Service, Refuge accommodation or Outreach services and explain what help is available to support females and males over the age of 16.

 

MKUH Breast Care Unit

Time:

3:10 – 4:00 pm

Service:

The Breast Care Unit, based at MKUH is a small friendly team offering treatment for symptomatic and suspected cancers for both men and women. The multi-disciplinary team consists of consultant radiologists and highly trained specialist breast care nurses who are always available.

Topic:  

Join us at the event where we will have a 10–20-minute presentation followed by a period of questions. As we have our breast education model, we will then do half an hour of teaching to women showing how to examine your breasts yourself and how to report any worries to your GP.

 

MK Melting Pot

Time:

4:00pm- 4:20 pm

Service:

MK Melting Pot is a community organisation that seeks to engage disadvantaged people to grow to their greatest potential and beyond, alongside integrating the society of MK through campaigns and events.

Topic:  

We will be making a presentation so you can learn about sickle cell and how to support people who have it.
