Immunisation Week - 24th to 30th April
The 24th to 30th April is Immunisation Week. This year's, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is campaigning to 'Close the Immunisation Gap', to highlight the importance of immunisation for all throughout life. Visit the WHO website for information on the campaign, and on how and why vaccines work. You can also download campaign material to help you spread the word that vaccines work. Immunisation Week was established to increase awareness of the effectiveness and critical importance of vaccines in protecting communities. The WHO say:
"immunisation is one of the most successful and cost-effective means to help children grow into healthy adults. We have made enormous progress, but one in five children is still not being reached. In addition, too many adolescents and adults are not receiving the vaccines they need to help them stay healthy throughout life. It's time to close the gap"
