January meeting of Young People's Healthwatch
The Young People's Healthwatch group met on 12th January. The main purposes of the meeting were to arrangeto do an inspection visit to Brook, the free and confidential sexual health and wellbeing service. The group also discussed a first aid project that was agreed at the last meeting.
The group agreed that they would like to visit on the evening of Monday 13th February. The group asked for an introduction from Brook so that they understand what services are delivered by Brook and how many people they see. The group will then inspect waiting rooms and consultation rooms and review literature and the website. They also want to talk to the staff and find out more about privacy and confidentiality.
First Aid Project:
The group would like as many young people in Milton Keynes as possible to be given basic first aid training. They would like schools to allow students from year 9 onwards to receive this training, which would cover things like burns, cuts and choking.
